EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – A 29-year-old township resident was charged with aggravated assault after he allegedly stabbed his younger brother during a wrestling match that escalated into an altercation, police said.

Matthew Dix was charged with aggravated assault and weapons offenses after Egg Harbor Township Police Officers Gary Johnson, Alekhine Pahang and Jon D’Augustine, Sgt. Charles Super and Sgt. Cherie Burgan responded to a call at a residence on Berry Drive in the Bargaintown section of the township on Sunday, March 23 at approximately 3 a.m.

The victim, Ryan Dix, 26, also of Egg Harbor Township, told police he was stabbed in the abdomen during a wrestling incident with his brother that escalated. He was treated at the scene by the Egg Harbor Township Ambulance Squad and AtlantiCare paramedics and transported to AtlantiCare City Campus.

Matthew Dix’s bail was set by Municipal Court Judge H. R. Switzer at $25,000 full cash, and he was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.     

The incident is being investigated by Detective Kyle Warren of the Egg Harbor Township Criminal Investigations Bureau.
