EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – Egg Harbor Township Police said officers have located a mentally impaired man who had been missing since Thursday morning. At approximately 9 a.m. Friday, April 25, officers were called to Sandpiper Drive in the Pleasant Woods neighborhood in reference to a suspicious person the caller suspected could be the missing man.

Police said officers determined the man was Carlos Franqui, who seemed unharmed. Franqui, whose family said he is cognitively impaired and has mental capacity of a young child, went missing around 7:30 a.m. April 24 near his residence in Atlantic Gardens Mobile Home Park wearing a beige sweater, blue jeans and brown slipper shoes. 

A family member reported seeing him enter a transport vehicle believed at the time to be owned by Partial Care Facility in Hammonton, according to police. When Partial Care Facility was contacted, the company said the man had not been picked up by its representatives and may have gotten into the wrong vehicle.

Police have not yet identified the vehicle he reportedly rode away it or its destination.

 The family told police they had not had contact with him since yesterday morning and were “extremely concerned for his well-being.”
