UPDATE: Toddler run over by vehicle in Egg Harbor Township driveway is in stable condition

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP -  A 1-year-old child was airlifted to Cooper Hospital Trauma Center with moderate injuries after her mother unknowingly ran over the child in the driveway of a Flatbush Avenue home around 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 20.

 According to police, Christina Rodriguez, 24, of Egg Harbor Township was backing from the driveway when her toddler ran into the path of her 2014 Hyundai Elantra. The vehicle struck the child, continued in reverse and pinned the child underneath. Neighbors alerted the driver, and the vehicle was stopped.

 The child was extricated from under the vehicle by neighbors and was treated at the scene by the Egg Harbor Township Ambulance Squad and AtlantiCare paramedics. The child was airlifted by the Southstar Medivac helicopter. 

The crash is being investigated by Egg Harbor Township Officers Louis Poletis and Patrick Daly.
