Man avoids attempted armed robbery at drive-through of EHT Burger King restaurant

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – Police are searching for a man who allegedly attempted to rob a man while he was in the drive-through window at the Burger King on Tilton Road in the Bargaintown section of the township on Sunday, July 20.

According to police, a light-skinned black male in his late teens or early 20s approached the passenger side window of the victim’s car while he was in the drive through lane of the fast food restaurant around 7 p.m. He victim told police the man showed a handgun and demanded his property from inside the car. Instead of handing it over, the 59-year old victim pulled forward and began honking the horn, a decision that caused the alleged armed robber to flee on foot south on Hingston Avenue.

 The victim was not injured in the encounter. Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the suspect, described as 5-feet, 10-inches tall. He was last seen wearing a grey shirt, grey pants and a white hat.

Officers Patrick Daly and Shane Gilson responded to the call. A perimeter was set up and a K-9 track was attempted by Officer Christopher Berry and his partner Blitz but the suspect was not located at that time. 

 This incident is being investigated by Detective Reynold Theriault of the Egg Harbor Township Criminal Investigations Bureau.
