EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP––In a multi-jurisdictional investigation Hamilton Police arrested Mark Poper, 35, of Egg Harbor Township on various DWI related offenses. They turned him over to Egg Harbor Township Police who were looking for Poper for an aggravated assault that occurred a short time prior to his DWI arrest.

EHT Police responded to a call at approximately 1:45 a.m. to the parking lot of Juliano’s at Ocean Heights Avenue and Zion Road in the Bargaintown section of the township for a reported aggravated assault by auto.

Officers Officers Paul Janetta, Charles Davenport, Shane Gilson, John Beattes and Brett Fair responded to the call and found the victim, Cindy Miller, 39, of Ventnor.

According to the police report, apparently there was some type of dispute between the Poper and Miller that turned physical. Allegedly Poper punched Miller, got into his vehicle and backed out of his parking space striking Miller with the vehicle’s door. Poper  then pulled forward running Miller over and fled the area in the vehicle.

Miller was transported to Shore Medical Center by the Egg Harbor Township Ambulance Squad for her injuries.

Poper was taken into custody by the Hamilton Township Police Department for driving while intoxicated a short time after the assault occurred. Poper was charged with various DWI offenses and turned over to the Egg Harbor Township Police Department. Once back in EHT, Poper was charged with aggravated assault, assault by auto and numerous motor vehicle offenses. Municipal Court Judge H. Switzer sent full $25,000 bail and Poper was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

Upon further investigation Poper was also wanted out of the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Department on a child support warrant.
