EHT man, woman face marijuana charges after police check on elderly resident at home

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – A local man and woman who police said were running a marijuana growing facility inside a home on Fisher Avenue in the township's Scullville section were arrested on drug charges after police responded to a call regarding the well-being of an elderly resident at the home Wednesday, Aug. 13.

Kimberly Gifford, 50, and Raymond Peaschek, 42, were charged with manufacturing (growing) a controlled dangerous substance, possession of marijuana over 50 grams and possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia. Both were released on a summons with a date to appear in court.

Police said that Egg Harbor Township Sgt. Cheri Burgan and Officers Jonathan D’Augustine and Michael O’Hagan responded to the call and suspected that the occupants were in possession of drugs. A search warrant was obtained, and the subsequent search turned up eight plants as well as paraphernalia.

The elderly resident was transported to AtlantiCare Medical Center, City Campus, by the Egg Harbor Township Ambulance Squad for evaluation.
