EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP - A 22 year-old Egg Harbor Township motorcyclist sustained serious injuries in a crash along Fire Road in the Bargaintown section of the township today, Thursday, Aug. 14.

Justin Levenson was driving a 1990 Yamaha motorcycle at a high rate of speed as he and and another cyclist exited the Garden State Parkway and traveled south on Fire Road around 3:43 p.m. near the Bonton Plaza, police said.

The motorcycles drove close to the rear of a 2011 Chevy Silverado driven by Michael Damate, 63, also of Egg Harbor Township as he turned left onto Fire Road from Hingston Avenue, also travelling south.

Levenson lost control of his bike and he was ejected as both he and the bike struck the rear of the truck. He was treated at the scene by the Egg Harbor Township Ambulance Squad and AtlantiCare paramedics.

He was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus Trauma Center with serious injuries.

Fire Road was closed for approximately three hours while the crash was being investigated and cleared. This crash is being investigated by Officers Louis Poletis and Kevin Devlin of the Egg Harbor Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit.
