Rum Rummer benefits Historical and Genealogical Society

The inaugural Rum Runner 5K and 10K Run and Fitness Walk is scheduled to step off 8 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 12 rain or shine.

The fundraiser benefits the Cape May County Historical and Genealogical Society, a nonprofit organization that operates the Cape May County Museum.

All events will start and finish at the Women’s Civic Club on 96th Street and First Avenue in Stone Harbor, and there will be water stations throughout the course. The 5K and 10K races are USA Track and Field certified, with electronic timing by Runner’s Advocate.

All finishers will receive a medal, and the first five male and female finishers will be given a special keepsake award. There will be awards for the top three male and female finishers in each age category.

Fresh fruit and other refreshments will be available at the finish line, along with medical support if needed. No pets are allowed on the course.

Register in person 11:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Aug. 11 at the firehouse, 9508 Second Ave., or 6 a.m. until the start of the race Aug. 12 at the Women’s Civic Club.
