SEA ISLE CITY - The annual American National Rugby League festival is on again Saturday, July 28 at Dealy Field in Sea Isle City.

War at the Shore XV once again presents a full day of rugby league action for the whole family. The event will feature kids skills and drills challenges, prize giveaways, Eagletag, and a free cookout with music and entertainment along with some key matchups from the Atlantic Conference.

In the first game of the day, the Bulls and Raiders will lock horns in a match the Bulls will be looking to win to close out the regular season with a 6-1 record. The Raiders will be looking to gather momentum as they go into the playoff series similar to last season when they were within a try of reaching their first AMNRL Cup final.

The Knights are expected to best the improving Eagles and secure the top seed and first-round playoff bye.

Game three will be the feature match of the event with the Wildcats and Sharks going into battle with the result determining who will be the third and fourth seed for the playoffs and, more importantly, who will have home field advantage. The Wildcats boast the league’s leading try scorer in Mike Goward with 16 tries, along with dominant players such as Curtis Cunz, Salesi Tongamoa, Charlie Rizzo, Gareth Gibbs and Mike Shachter. The Sharks will look to the experience of Justin Zadnik, Phil Shipos, Zac Padgett and Steve Thompson to lead local talent such as Dan Johnson, Brian McCall, Dean Schofield and Ryan Sodano, who scored a first-half hat trick playing for the South in the AMNRL North vs. South match.

Fans at the shore will enjoy three games along with action from a youth rugby league sevens match between Salesianum, Del., and Monsignor Bonner, Pa.

The Pennsylvania Bulls play the Northern Raiders of New York 11:30 a.m., followed by New York Knights vs. Northern Virginia Eagles at 1 p.m. and the Bucks County Sharks vs. Connecticut Wildcats 2:30 p.m.

Admission is free. Bring a beach chair, bathing suit and beverages.
