EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP - The 16th annual Brutus Fluke Tournament will be held 6 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, June 14. Initiated in 1999 in memory of avid bay fisherman Walter “The Brute” Gregory Sr., the tournament benefits Egg Harbor Township Elks Lodge 2563 and Somers Point AMVETS Post 911 programs for veterans and handicapped children.

There will be three cash prizes ($500 for first) and 12 noncash prizes. Anglers may fish from boats, bridges or the beach.

The Somers Point head boat, the Duke of Fluke out of Somers Point (609-927-2280), is offering a trip that day that returns to dock before the weigh-in cutoff time.

The entry fee is $30 per angler; deadline for registration is at end of the 6 p.m. captains meeting Friday, June 13 (about 9 p.m.). The fee includes snacks during registration and awards buffet after the tournament.

All events and the weigh-in will be held at the Egg Harbor Elks Lodge, 1815 Somers Point-Mays Landing Road, just over the Patcong Creek Bridge in Egg Harbor Township.

Registration forms can be picked up at Somers Point Marine, Fishin’Stuff, Brennen’s Marine, 24/7 Bait & Tackle, Finattic’s, the EHT Elks lodge and Gregory’s Bar or requested by emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
