MAYS LANDING – A Richard Stockton College employee was charged with the theft of more than $1,400 worth of property from the college, Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel said Friday, Feb. 3.
Mihn Vu, 38, of Galloway was charged with stealing two Cisco wireless air access routers valued at more than $700 each. Vu allegedly stole the devices Dec. 22 and 23, while the school was on winter break.
Vu was hired by Stockton in 2004. He is a senior repairer.
On Jan. 6, Stockton police contacted the Prosecutor’s Office Official Corruption Unit and a joint investigation between the two agencies ensued. A search warrant was subsequently issued for Vu’s residence. On the morning of Jan. 13, agents from the Prosecutor’s Office, Stockton police and the Galloway Township Police Department searched Vu’s home and reportedly recovered both devices.
On Wednesday, Jan. 31, Vu was formally served a summons on two counts of theft by unlawful taking. He is scheduled to appear in Galloway Municipal Court 9 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7.
Theft by unlawful taking is a third-degree crime and carries a maximum prison sentence of three to five years in New Jersey state prison.
