Woman charged after vehicle strikes cars, garage

GALLOWAY – A local woman was charged with drunken driving and other offenses after her vehicle struck three parked cars and a garage and also damaged a lamp post and a utility box in the Smithville section of the township Sunday, Feb. 5, police said.

Ivelisse Lopez, 39, of Galloway lost control of her vehicle at 10:45 p.m. and struck a parked vehicle on Lakefront Circle, according to police. Her vehicle then struck a garage, causing significant damage. It continued on and struck two other parked vehicles. A lamp post and a utility box were also damaged.

Lopez was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Mainland Campus by Galloway EMS for evaluation.

She was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to maintain lane, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

The Oceanville Volunteer Fire Company, Galloway Township Code Enforcement, Verizon and Atlantic City Electric assisted at the scene.
