GALLOWAY – Pomona Road south of Route 30 is scheduled to close overnight Wednesday, Feb. 8 for drainage installation work by New Jersey Department of Transportation contractor Mount Construction Co.

The road will be closed in both directions just south of Route 30 from 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8 to 7 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9 for the installation of two new stormwater drainage pipes underneath the road.

Motorists traveling north on Pomona Road are to be detoured at Aloe Street to Genoa Avenue northbound to Route 30 eastbound back to Pomona Road.

Southbound motorists are to be detoured onto Route 30 westbound to Genoa Avenue and then southbound to Aloe Street back to Pomona Road.

Route 30 travel lanes will not be impacted through the intersection.

The ongoing $6.5 million project aims to improve safety and reduce congestion at the intersection of Route 30 and Pomona Road by widening the cross section of Route 30 to add left-turn lanes at each approach. Construction began in January 2011 and is anticipated to be completed this fall.

The timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.

There is a 40 percent chance of rain Wednesday, according to the Weather Channel.

Motorists are encouraged to check the NJDOT traffic information website, www.511nj.org.
