The Masto/Silvestro Family Educational Foundation has announced its sixth annual $2,000 Writer’s Award for Absegami High School seniors.

“The Masto/Silvestro Educational Foundation is a nonprofit group dedicated to helping young people achieve their potential,” Board Chairman Douglas Masto said. “As part of this function, we annually award one $2,000 grant to a graduating Absegami student who exhibits a passionate dedication to the art of writing for publication.”

The award honors Masto’s sister, Lynne Masto Silvestro, and her late husband, Louis E. Silvestro.

“Prior to her retirement in 2007, Lynne was an English and creative writing teacher and also yearbook advisor at Absegami,” Masto said. “Lou was a devoted English teacher in the Middle Township schools in the 25 years prior to his death in 1991.”
