GALLOWAY – Galloway Township Athletic Association cheerleaders and football players from the taxi through varsity level raised some $1,340 during weeklong homecoming activities – which included a powderpuff game with girls playing flag football while the boys cheered, a homecoming dance, and a bake sale conducted during all the games.
“Each year we choose a charity that we feel is important, and this year the Community FoodBank of New Jersey was chosen,” President Chris Waszen said Tuesday, Nov. 6. “All the players and coaches wore green and gold to represent playing for this cause.”
Waszen is a strong supporter of sports activity being more than just games, and has boosted community involvement for years.
“To finish it off, they actually won against Ocean City 31-0,” Waszen said. “They were honored to give this money to the Community FoodBank this year. This will definitely help with the Hurricane Sandy victims and their families.”
