GALLOWAY – When seniors hold a costume party, apparently a lot of them come dressed as themselves.

But at the new township Senior Center there were at least enough others to have a costume contest at its Halloween party Thursday, Oct. 25.

Township residents Joyce and Bob Moore were the big winners, dressed as Cleopatra and Julius Caesar.

The two, members of the Senior Center Activities Committee, were all smiles after winning the contest.

“We came over here from the Nile,” Joyce Moore said after winning the contest. “We got tired of all the snakes over there.”

Anna Jezycki said the party – the center’s first – was a big success.

“There were close to 50 people here,” she said. “They said it was very nice. We had plenty of food.”

Joanne and Mal Heckman of Galloway were second-time visitors to the center.

“I was here once before to get a flu shot,” Mal Heckman said. “We also came on movie night. I have almost 200 DVDs they might want to borrow. That’s how I got involved.”

Jezycki said people who needed to eat before the movie ended brought their own food.

“But we had plenty of food after the movie,” she said.

Al Patchus of Absecon is vice chairman of the committee that operates the center.

“We have a lot of organization,” he said. “Things are falling into place. We’re going to have more parties and other events.”
