Galloway man struck, killed on Route 30

ABSECON – A Galloway man died after he was struck by a car at a little before 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19 as he walked along Route 30 near the Home Depot, according to Absecon police.

The 69-year-old man who was not identified by the police walked in the westbound lanes when he was struck by a vehicle driven by a 27-year-old Egg Harbor City female, police said. The driver was also not indentified.

Atlantic County medical Examiners office personnel declared the man dead at the scene.

Absecon EMS personnel transported the driver to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center-Mainland Campus for treatment.

Route 30’s westbound lanes were closed for 2½ hours for the police to investigate the accident.

The man’s death is the third along Route 30 in Absecon since late October.
