GALLOWAY – Police have released a sketch of a suspect in an attempted child abduction by a motorist at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 6 on Route 9 near Chanese Lane.
The man was described as being Hispanic, in his mid 30s, about 5 feet 4, to 5 feet 6 inches tall, with a stocky build, short-cropped black hair and a mustache and goatee.
He apparently got out of a newer model, black four-door BMW and tried to abduct a 14-year-old girl, according to police.
After a brief struggle with the girl, the man, who was wearing jeans and a blue jacket and with diamond earrings in both ears, fled south on Route 9 in his vehicle, police said.
The girl received a minor injury to her foot.
Detective Sgt. Donna Higbee is investigating.
According to Higbee, police have received no additional reports or sightings since the incident.
