GALLOWAY – One woman walking on the sidewalk on Leipzig Avenue at St. Andrews Drive was killed and another injured after being struck by a vehicle shortly after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 19.

Elizabeth Torpey, 67, of Galloway was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by a 2007 Honda Civic being driven by Sharon Musher, 41, of Philadelphia.

A second pedestrian, Anna Jordan, 73, of Galloway was admitted to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Mainland Campus with multiple injuries.

The vehicle was traveling northbound on Leipzig Avenue when Musher lost control of her vehicle, left the roadway and struck the two pedestrians walking southbound on the sidewalk and then struck a tree, according to police. 

Musher was also taken to AtlantiCare-Mainland with minor injuries, police said.

The road was closed for about three hours.

Police said charges are pending investigation by the Traffic Safety Unit.

Investigating officers are Cpl. Greg Bollinger and Patrolmen Kevin Welsh and Kevin Costa.
