Galloway firefighters put out three blazes

fire-dept-galloway GALLOWAY– Police and fire personnel responded to two structure fires on 1st Avenue caused by lighting strikes and a stove fire on Snow Mass Ct. Thursday, July 10, Police Sgt. Donna Higbee said in a release.

Emergency personnel responded to the 600 block of 1st Avenue at 10:07 a.m. for reported fires/smell of smoke. The fires were extinguished and the street was shut down for several hours while South Jersey Gas, Atlantic City Electric and NJ American Water company personnel assessed the conditions.

Within the hour, emergency personnel went to Snow Mass Ct. for a reported structure fire. Upon arrival, the blaze was put out. It was determined that a pot was left on the stove and the fire was deemed accidental.

No one was injured in the incidents, Higbee said.

All five Galloway fire companies responded to the fires and were assisted by Egg Harbor Township, Port Republic and Atlantic City Airport Fire Personnel. Medical personnel from all over Atlantic County responded to assist as well.
