GALLOWAY– State Police are investigating a one-car crash on the Garden State Parkway at milepost 42 that sent a Monmouth County family to the hospital Sunday, State Police Captain Stephen Jones said Monday.

At 3:24 p.m. a Nissan Altima, driven by George Alexander, 59, of Marlboro, was traveling south on the parkway when he suffered a “medical issue, lost control of the vehicle and ran off to the left, struck a guardrail and the vehicle overturned,” Jones said.

Alexander was trapped. Three passengers escaped with minor injuries. Galloway fire personnel safely removed Alexander from the car. Emergency workers transported Alexander to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Mainland Campus in Galloway, where he is listed in critical condition. The passengers, who share the last name Alexander, Dayna, 22, Kyle, 28, and Christine, 59, were also taken to Mainland where they were treated for minor injuries, Jones said.
