EGG HARBOR CITY– The Greater Egg Harbor Regional School District appointed a new school business administrator at its meeting Monday, July 21 at Cedar Creek High School.

Well, not really new.

Thomas Grossi, he served as the administrator in the district for 12 years prior to 2010 when he became the Ocean City school business administrator. He left his position in Ocean City in 2013 and went to Dennis Township to be the business administrator. He will head back to GEHR at a salary of $128,000. He is expected to begin “90 days or sooner” from July 10, when he was appointed to the post. His contract will extend through June 30, 2015.

The hiring, however, is conditional upon approval from the executive county superintendent of schools after the results of a criminal background check.

Grossi replaces Charles Muller, who retired June 30 at a salary of $130,050.

“We are looking forward to him coming back,” GEHR Board of Education President Carol Houck said during a short break from the board meeting. “We were very happy to recommend him. He is coming back with knowledge to share.”

New GEHR School District Superintendent John Keenan hired Grossi.

Grossi began his career as a municipal and school auditor for Ford Scott and Associates and worked with the GEHR School District. In 2010 he told The Current that is was an easy adjustment to become a business administration at GEHR before deciding to work in his hometown of Ocean City.

Barbara Wood is the interim business administrator until Grossi is able to join the district. She receives $450 per day and an additional $75 per hour should the board meetings exceed two in a month.
