School bus hits truck: no reported injuries

galloway GALLOWAY– Police responded to a crash involving a school bus and truck on Thursday afternoon at the intersection of South Cologne Avenue and Aloe Street, according to police.

At approximately 3:16 p.m., Christopher Gillis, 19, of Galloway was driving a 2000 Isuzu box truck east on Aloe Street. Gillis approached the intersection at Cologne Avenue and stopped for the posted stop sign. He then proceeded through the intersection prior to making sure the road was clear and was struck by a school bus driven by Christina Lindwall, 64, of Newport, who was traveling north on Cologne Avenue, police said.

There were no reported injuries but as a precaution, all of the students on the bus – all from the Atlantic County Special Services School, were transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Mainland Campus in Galloway, for evaluation.
Gillis was issued a summons for careless driving. Traffic was delayed for approximately an hour while police investigated the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Matthew Worth at 609-652-3705 ext.081.
