10 things locals should do before summer’s end 10 things locals should do before summer’s end As August sneaks up on us, “Back to School” sales are hitting the stores and students are packing up their boxes, it can be difficult to utilize the last weeks of summer.

1. Take a tourist day.

Treat yourself to a day of purely tourist activities. Go on the rides, go to the water park, eat a funnel cake, or whatever it is that you secretly wish you could enjoy the way tourists do.

2. Dine with family

Family time is always important and for locals, the summer isn’t the best time for getting together. Everyone is always busy with one thing or another. Before the summer is over, try to get the family together for a nice dinner or a night out.

3. Treat yourself

You’ve worked hard this summer. As the fall months start to creep up, why not treat yourself to that tote bag you've been eyeing all summer? It will definitely give you the strength you need to start another off season.

4. Have a movie marathon

Before school starts up again, and everyone is back into the daily grind, make sure you use up that down time you have. What better way to enjoy spare time than with a few of your favorite movies?

5. Take a trip

Before you know it, you’ll be sitting in class, counting each second as you get closer to the weekend. If you can, try to get away for a weekend before the leaves change. You'll be refreshed and ready to go back to school, work or whatever your daily life requires.

6. Serve up the sweet stuff

You have all winter to work on that bikini body. Be sure to enjoy summer desserts before they're hard to find. Stop by your favorite ice cream place while it’s still open.

No one really enjoys running on the treadmill at the gym. Staring at a silent sitcom on a mounted screen while exerting yourself in front of the local community is not ideal, but some of us find it necessary. These last few weeks of summer provide the perfect opportunity to avoid that whole scene. Go for a run on the beach. While it’s still nice, go to an outdoor yoga class. Take advantage of the weather.

8. Eyes on the horizon

Everyone dreams of watching the sun come up with someone they love. The warm summer nights are perfect for enjoying the view comfortably. Like a scene out of your favorite summer romance movie, you’ll feel as if your summer is complete, topped with a cliche sunrise moment.

There is nothing better than family and friends gathering to enjoy great food, summer drinks and wonderful memories. Crank up the grill and tell the neighbors to bring the cooler. A summer cookout is the perfect way to wrap up the season.

10. Go to the beach

Everyone misses the sand beneath her feet, the warm sea breeze, and the peaceful sound of the waves crashing on the shore. This is why we must spend as much time at the beach as we can. Enjoy those moments we long for all year long.
