Little Learners craft class

A little learners craft class will be held at 10a.m. or 1p.m. Friday, Sept. 19 at Atlantic County Park in Estell Manor. This free class is for ages 3-5. Register in advance. Call 609-625-7000 ext. 5431 for information.

Art in the Park

The Historical Society will hold its annual art and craft show and sale 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20 in Memorial Park on the corner of Main Street and Route 50 in Mays landing. There will be art, craft and food vendors. Vendor space is available; for information call Cheryl at 609-625-1598.

Waterfront Wine and Food Festival arrives

MAYS LANDING – The 2014 Waterfront Wine and Food Festival, presented by the Mays Landing Merchants Association, will be held from noon to 5p.m. Sept. 27 and 28 at Lake Lenape East in Mays Landing.

This year the festival has expanded to include California and international wines in addition to the 10 local South Jersey wineries. Participants will be able to sample more than 100 different wines from Auburn Road Vineyards, Chestnut Run Farms, Coda Rossa Winery, DiMatteo Vineyards, Natali Vineyards, Plagidos Winery, Sharrott Winery, Tomasello Winery, Wagonhouse Winery, Balic Winery, Gallo Wineries, Rive Lebu and Argenses.

Former SEAL to speak at fundraiser for Warfighter Sports

Richard Marcinko Richard Marcinko Retired Navy SEAL Cmdr. Richard Marcinko will be the keynote speaker at a fundraising dinner Thursday, Sept. 25 at Mays Landing Country Club, according to an announcement from the newly formed Southern New Jersey Chapter of Warfighter Sports, a program of Disabled Sports USA.

Warfighter Sports offers sports rehabilitation programs veterans and active duty members of the military who have a permanent physical disability such as amputation, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, visual impairments and significant nerve and muscle damage.

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP – The Greater Egg Harbor Regional High School District is inviting parents and community members to a special seminar on “Raising Successful Students” 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28 in the Oakcrest High School Performing Arts Center.

The program will be conducted by Bruce Boguski, author, motivational speaker, columnist and media personality who is well known for his ability to inspire others to “Do the Impossible.”

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP – The William Davies Middle School will be conducting its annual orientation for incoming sixth-grade students and their parents Wednesday, Aug. 13 with sessions at 6 p.m. and 7:15.

Topics include scheduling, technology, immunization, the student handbook, school activities and physicals. Parents will be able to meet administrators and teachers, and ask questions. There will also be a chance to tour part of the Davies School, and have students practice opening their lockers.

Atlantic County’s 4-H Fair educates and encourages responsibility in young people through a diverse range of projects and activities they oversee that are then showcased at the fair. HAMILTON TOWNSHIP – The Atlantic County 4-H Fair, a local tradition since 1948, returns to the David C. Wood 4-H Fairgrounds Aug. 7, 8, and 9.

For three days each year the 4-H Fair invites you to enjoy the tradition as it comes alive with kids, livestock, carnival rides and contests, along with demonstrations of projects and programs designed to further the education and leadership development of Atlantic County’s young people.

The school library will be transformed into a charming setting for the tea social. The school library will be transformed into a charming setting for the tea social. HAMILTON – “Live the life you love, love the life you live” is the theme of the ninth annual ladies tea slated for Friday, March 28 at the William Davies Middle School.

March is Women’s History Month, and the annual program aims to provide an opportunity for approximately 65 selected female students to learn from women who have excelled in various professions. The goal of the tea is to inspire young women to achieve their dreams as they continue their education.
