The Mays Landing Mustangs travel baseball team will be holding tryouts for the fall season from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 12, and from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 14 at Lake Lenape East Ball Field, 753 Park Road, Mays Landing.

Egg Harbor City will host its Hometown Celebration 5-11p.m. Friday, July 11 and 3-11 p.m. Saturday, July 12. The event features live music, craft vendors, a petting zoo and more. A 5K run/walk sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce is 8 a.m. Saturday July 12. Call  609-593-6193 for information.

Little Mr/Miss pageant

The Tiny and Little Miss and Mister Pageant is 5 p.m. Saturday, July 12, at Lincoln Park during the Egg Harbor City Hometown Celebration.  Contestants for the Tiny contest are ages 3-5 and for the Little contest are ages 6-9. Call Lindsey Petrosh at 609-965-2252 to register.

The Mays Landing Branch of the Atlantic County Library System, 40 Farragut Ave., presents fizz, boom, read to me at 1 p.m. Tuesdays, July 8, 15, 29 and August 5 and 12.  Participants, suggested to be ages three and a half to five, enjoy stories, songs, music and action rhymes. Fizz, Boom, Experiments

The Mays Landing Branch of the Atlantic County Library System, 40 Farragut Ave., presents fizz, boom, experiments at 3 p.m. Tuesdays July 8, 15, and 29. Participants between ages 7 and 12, will learn how to make a naked egg, flubber, slime and more. Registration is required. For more information call 609-625-2776.

The Dorothy Volunteer Fire Company will host its fifty-seventh annual Chicken Bar-B-Q from noon-6p.m. on Sunday, June 1 at the Firehouse Grove, 70 Tuckahoe Road in Dorothy. Platters are $11 and include half a chicken, potato salad, corn on the cob, potato chips, a pickle, roll and butter. Also available are hot dogs, clams, funnel cake and desserts. There will be games, music, raffles, hayrides and more. Chicken platter tickers are available from the Fire Company and the Ladies Auxiliary members or at the door. Band and Choir Fundraiser

The Cedar Creek High School Band and Choir will hold a fundraiser at 7p.m. on Friday, June 6, in the school’s Performing Arts Center. “A Night of Broadway” will feature Broadway songs sung by the band, choir and drama students. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and children. Tickets will be available at the door. For more information call 609-204-4489.

The Teen SEALS (Students Employ Assistance and Library Service) meeting will be at 7 p.m. May 27 at the Atlantic County Library System/Mays Landing Branch, 40 Farragut Ave. The meeting will discuss Summer Reading Program activities and lean about volunteer opportunities. The school library will be transformed into a charming setting for the tea social. The school library will be transformed into a charming setting for the tea social. HAMILTON – “Live the life you love, love the life you live” is the theme of the ninth annual ladies tea slated for Friday, March 28 at the William Davies Middle School.

March is Women’s History Month, and the annual program aims to provide an opportunity for approximately 65 selected female students to learn from women who have excelled in various professions. The goal of the tea is to inspire young women to achieve their dreams as they continue their education.

Fundraiser set to benefit family of child with Ewing sarcoma

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP – A benefit is planned for Sunday, March 23 to assist the family of 10-year-old Dylan Kenny, a child with metastatic Ewing’s sarcoma. The event will take place from 2-6 p.m. at the Watering Hole Café, 6494 Weymouth Road.

Dylan is currently being treated at A.I. Dupont Hospital in Wilmington, Del., which is about 55 miles from his home in Mays Landing. The fundraiser is being held to help the family with financial assistance to get their son to and from the hospital on a daily basis.
