Egg Harbor City crash claims driver, passenger

EGG HARBOR CITY – Two men died as a result of a 2:30 a.m. car crash on Philadelphia Avenue Thursday, May 17 in Egg Harbor City, Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel said.

Kevin Jepson, 21, of Lower Bank, died when the Chevrolet Impala he was driving crashed into a heavily wooded area, police said.  His passenger, Christopher Keating, 23, of Egg Harbor City was airlifted to the trauma center at the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City where he died 12 hours later.

Jepson was headed north on Philadelphia Avenue, and just north of the intersection with Moss Mill Road when the crash occurred, police said.

The Egg Harbor City Police Department responded to the crash scene and contacted

the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Collisions Unit. Both agencies are investigating the crash.

Philadelphia Avenue was blocked off for several hours, forcing motorists to use the Cedar Creek High School parking lot as a detour.

The accident remains under investigation.
