Firefighters fight vacant house blaze

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP – Police are investigating the cause of a fire on Monday, May 28 that destroyed a vacant home at the corner of Melvin Newton Boulevard and Philadelphia Avenue in the Mizpah section of the township.

The building was engulfed when Mizpah, Weymouth and New Jersey Fire Service personnel arrived. They remained on the scene for about two hours, police said.

The home had been vacant for several years, according to Hamilton Township police.

The fire remains under investigation by Detective Frank Schalek of the Hamilton Township Police Department.
