MAYS LANDING – Police have arrested and charged an Egg Harbor City resident with the shooting death of a Bergen County man in 2010 in Galloway, acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain said.

Rafael Olmo, 28, of Egg Harbor City was charged with the murder of Leandro A. Rodriquez, 36, of Hackensack.

Olmo, who is currently in federal custody for an unrelated matter, is facing charges of murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon by a convicted person in connection with the murder of Rodriguez.

Police discovered Rodriquez’s body on Dec. 2, 2010 in a backyard of an unoccupied residence on the 500 block of South Berlin Avenue and just south of Aloe Street in the township’s Cologne Section.

Rodriguez was shot twice in the face.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Galloway Township Police Department conducted the homicide investigation, which resulted in Olmo’s arrest.
