HAMILTON TOWNSHIP – Michael Campbell, 29, of the township was arrested and charged with several counts of burglary and theft following a traffic stop on Thursday, Nov. 15.

Campbell is also expected to be charged by the New Jersey State Police out of Buena Vista, according to Hamilton Township police.

Since October, local police have investigated several burglaries and thefts involving copper piping and central air conditioning units from homes in the Harding Lakes section of the township.

Two of the central air conditioning units had been stolen from the Indian Oaks apartment complex on Old Harding Highway, police said.

During the investigation, Hamilton Township police detectives determined Campbell was a suspect.

Following the traffic stop, police interviewed Campbell and he admitted his involvement in the burglaries and thefts, police said. Campbell also admitted to stealing the central air conditioning unit from his current residence.

He also admitted to being involved in a similar incident in Weymouth Township, police said.
