HAMILTON TOWNSHIP – Sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students from the William Davies Middle School are preparing for their upcoming holiday concerts, to be performed live before an audience and recorded for broadcast over the local airwaves.

The Choir will be recorded live for the annual TV 40 Christmas Chorale on Nov. 28.  Their performance will be televised several times on TV during Christmas week.

On Dec. 10, the Choir can also be heard on WFPG 96.9 Radio around 8:30 a.m., followed by a performance for the MAPS Foundation of South Jersey, “Sounds of the Season Show” at Resorts Casino in Atlantic City at 11:30 a.m.

The annual William Davies Middle School Holiday Concert is scheduled 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6 in the Hess Education Complex auditorium, 700 Babcock Road, Mays Landing.

Some featured selections will be “Santa at the Symphony,” “Up on the Housetop,” “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring,” “Happy Hanukah My Friend,” “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas,” and “Deck the Halls with Chips and Salsa.”

The traditional concert finale, “Winter Fantasy,” will involve all members of the Band, Choir, Band / Choir alumni, and the audience.  Special guest appearances are expected by their “friends from the North Pole.”  Children of all ages are invited to attend.

The concert is free, handicapped accessible, and open to the public. Concertgoers wishing to help the school assist the Davies School National Junior Honor Society, and the Atlantic County Sherriff’s Department may bring new, unwrapped toys to the concert for the annual toy drive.   A canned food item may also be donated at the door for the local food bank.

The Premier Band, Concert Band, Treble Choir and Show Choir are all co-directed by Donna Marie Berchtold, Andrew Seigel, and David Rothkopf.  Jim Daniels is the assistant to the directors.
