Fire damages Mays Landing home

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP – Officials are investigating the cause of a fire that significantly damaged a lake front home at 985 Morningside Drive Saturday, Dec. 8.

It was 11:52 a.m. when the Township of Hamilton Police Department responded to the report of a structure fire at the location. When they arrived the attached garage was fully engulfed and fire had spread to the house, police said.

Members of the Mays Landing Fire Department, assisted by the Cologne, Weymouth, Mizpah, and South Egg Harbor volunteer fire companies, were able to extinguish the fire. The residence sustained significant damage.

Two of the occupants, Carol Banker, 56, and George Banker, 87, were transported to the hospital by the Township of Hamilton Rescue Squad for evaluation.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by Detective Michael Robison and Fire Investigator Frank Primavera.

The American Red Cross also assisted at the scene.
