HAMILTON TOWNSHIP – A Mays Landing man has been indicted for vehicular homicide in connection with a fatal accident that claimed the life of a 21-year-old Estell Manor woman last summer, acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.

On Wednesday, Feb. 20, an Atlantic County grand jury indicted Michael McMunn, Jr., now 21, for second-degree vehicular homicide for his involvement in a fatal crash that resulted in the death of 21-year-old Richard Kisby of Estell Manor.

In the early morning hours of July 2, 2012, a vehicle driven by McMunn, flipped over on Leipzig Avenue in Hamilton Township, causing Kisby, the passenger, to be ejected. Kisby sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

McMunn was issued multiple summonses by the Hamilton Township Police Department including DUI, careless driving, reckless driving, failure to wear a seat belt and having an open container of alcohol.

Following an investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Collisions Unit and the Hamilton Township Police Department, McMunn was criminally charged with vehicular homicide.

On Aug. 8, 2012, McMunn was arrested by Hamilton Township police and lodged at the Gerard L. Gormely Justice Facility on $250,000 bail.

Second-degree vehicular homicide carries a sentence of five to 10 years in state prison and up to $150,000 in fines.
