Accident claims Mays Landing man

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP – A 49-year-old Mays Landing man died this morning (Tuesday, Feb. 26) from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle crash at Route 50 and the Atlantic City Expressway, according to the Township of Hamilton Police Department.

Police were called at 5:42 a.m. to a report of a motor vehicle crash. They said Robert Maskos Jr., 40, of Hammonton, was traveling south on Route 50 in a 2007 Sterling truck for the Craig Corp when the truck collided with a 1995 Chevy Lumina driven by Daniel O'Shea Jr., 49, of Mays Landing.

Police said O’Shea had taken the southbound jug handle to go north on Route 50 when he crossed the southbound lanes and into the path of Maskos' vehicle, resulting in a collision.
Daniel was pronounced dead at the scene. Maskos suffered minor injuries and was transported to AtlantiCare in Hammonton.

The Laureldale Volunteer Fire Company, Mays Landing Rescue, New Jersey State Police Transportation Safety Unit, and the Atlantic County Medical Examiner assisted at the scene.
The investigation continues by the Township of Hamilton Police Department.
