Bathroom fire extinguished; students back in class at Oakcrest

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP – Students are back in class after being evacuated for a bathroom fire today (Tuesday morning, April 1) at Oakcrest High School.

The report came in a 9:32 a.m., according to the Township of Hamilton Police Department. Fire crews extinguished the flames, and damage was limited to a portion of the bathroom, police said.

Students who had been evacuated by Oakcrest staff were returned to class approximately 30 minutes later. There were no injuries. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The incident prompted a response from police, volunteer fire companies from Cologne, Laureldale, and Mays Landing along with the New Jersey Forest Fire Service.
