HAMILTON TOWNSHIP – An investigation into a report of a runaway girl has led to the arrest of a 23-year-old Bridgeton man on luring charges.

When the Township of Hamilton Police Department responded to the Cloverleaf section of the township 12:30 a.m. Monday, April 21 for a report of a 13-year-old runaway, officers made contact with Jacob Williams, 23, of Bridgeton, who was allegedly attempting to pick up the girl near her residence.

Further investigation revealed that Williams and the girl had been communicating via the Internet to set up meetings over a period of time, police said. 

On Wednesday, April 23, Williams was charged with luring a child to a motor vehicle. 

Municipal Court Judge H. Robert Switzer authorized an arrest warrant and bail was set at $10,000 cash. 

The case remains under investigation.
