HAMILTON TOWNSHIP – Township of Hamilton police have released the names of the victims of Friday evening’s airplane crash that left one person dead.

Killed in the crash was Morgan Smith, 28, of Lexington Park, Md. He was one of the passengers.

The pilot, Peter Kosogorin, 45, of Tall Timbers, Md., along with Cheyne Austin, 23, of Lexington Park, Md., remains hospitalized at Atlantic City Medical Center City Division, police said Monday, May 12. Alec Lewis, 23, of California, Md., was treated and released, police said.

The single-engine plane crashed Friday evening, May 9, on Paddock Street in Hamilton Township while on approach to Atlantic City International Airport. The Navion G was on approach sometime after 8:30 p.m. when the crash occurred following a loss of engine power, according to information on the Aviation Safety Network website.

Police, fire and rescue crews were called to the scene along with the New Jersey Medical Examiner’s Office.

The crash is being investigated by Paul Cox of the National Transportation Safety Board, and Detective Michael Virga of the Township of Hamilton Police Department.
