CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE –Anne Burrows, president of the Cape Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, presented Joanne Carrocino, president and CEO of Cape Regional Medical Center and Arlene MacDonald, chairwoman of the Cape Regional Medical Center Foundation, with a $125,000 check in support of the medical center’s intensive care unit (ICU) renovations.
The Cape Regional Medical Center Auxiliary announced its pledge of $1 million toward the ICU Renovation in June, 2009.
“This check of $125,000 brings our total to $875,000 toward our $1 million pledge,” stated Burrows. “We anticipate completing our pledge commitment in July, 2014 and begin payments toward our $1 million pledge to the Thomas and Claire Brodesser, Jr. Cancer Center Capital Campaign.”
The new ICU opened in July, 2011.
“On behalf of the entire medical center team, we thank the auxiliary for their continual support and year-round work on behalf of the patients and families cared for at Cape Regional Medical Center,” stated Carrocino.
The Cape Regional Medical Center Auxiliary was started in 1951 when a group of women began to raise funds to help build the Medical Center. Women and men throughout Cape May County continued to donate to expanded healthcare services, and as a result, the current auxiliary was created. Now with four branches, MASH (Middle Township, Avalon and Stone Harbor), Twigs, Cape May, and Wildwood, activities sponsored by the Auxiliary Board include operation of two EtCetera (thrift) Shops located in Cape May Court House and North Cape May. All branches assist board-sponsored fundraising projects as well as conduct special projects of their own.
Proceeds raised by the auxiliary are presented to the Medical Center for designated projects. For more information, call 463-2519 or write to: Cape Regional Medical Center, Attn: Auxiliary Membership Chair, 2 Stone Harbor Boulevard, Cape May Court House, 08210.
The Cape Regional Medical Center Foundation was established in 1999 and is dedicated to raising philanthropic support and community involvement in support of Cape Regional Medical Center. To contact the Cape Regional Medical Center Foundation, call 463-4040 or see www.caperegional.com.
