Families are invited to make their own Advent wreaths in the basement of St. Joseph Church in Somers Point after each Mass on Nov. 17 and Nov. 18.
Advent is a period of preparation extending over four Sundays before Christmas. It is a time of preparation for the coming of Christ at Christmas. It also is the start of the liturgical year in the Roman Catholic Church. The first Sunday of Advent is Dec. 2.
The cost to make a wreath with candle holders, artificial greens and four candles is $10. Participants will also get a prayer instruction paper on how and when to light the candles.
St. Joseph Church is at 606 Shore Road. Masses are celebrated 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. (Spanish Mass) on Saturday and 8:15 a.m., 10 a.m., 11:45 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Sunday.
