ATLANTIC CITY – Atlantic City will be showing off some new holiday attire when the Atlantic City Tourism District launches a new holiday parade along with a $600,000 holiday lighting program Saturday, Dec. 1.

The parade will begin at noon and include more than a dozen floats, bands, community groups and costumed characters. The hour-long parade will also feature Miss Atlantic City 2012 Aliyah Montaque and an appearance by Santa Claus as it winds its way from Vermont Avenue along Atlantic Avenue and toward Tanger Outlets – The Walk at Michigan Avenue.

Atlantic City’s main corridors, including Atlantic Avenue, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Center City Park and O’ Donnell Park will be putting on strings of holiday décor intended to showcase the city’s can-do spirit and provide a festive background for the parade.

The centerpiece will be a 35-foot lighted Christmas tree donated by Tanger Outlets to the Atlantic City Tourism District. It will be turned on with the flick of a switch Dec. 1, where it will reside throughout the holiday season at the foot of the Atlantic City Expressway.

Also on Saturday, Revel will kick off the Eight Days of Lights/Nine Days of Merriment with the unveiling of resort-wide holiday decorations and events. See for information on holiday cheer and shopping specials at the Row, including complimentary champagne and an assortment of croissants.
