While reading to my daughter a story of the Whos
I dreamt of the Current and Galloway's news.
Though Suess may be charming, he just can't compete
With stories of my neighbors who live down the street.
And how could I learn while reading bout Sneeches
Of yard sales and fish tales and where the best beach is?
So as soon as I saw her small eyes close in sleep
I snuck from the room and to the kitchen did creep.
It was Thursday so out to the street I did run
And grabbed this week's issue, oh this will be fun!
I scour it for coupons then flip through to find
All kinds of stories to fill up my mind.
I yell to my husband, "Did you hear about Sam?"
(He's as big of a fan of the current as I am.)
"It says that he won the election last night.
And did you hear they installed that new traffic light?"
We go to the library, on the right day, indeed
For we read the change in The Current and always take heed
Of advice that we get there to make weekly plans.
(I bet they didn't know they had so many fans!)
With so much to offer you'd think they'd charge a big fee
But the best part of The Current is that it is FREE!
So in a month full of love when we celebrate things
With chocolate and roses and diamonds on rings,
I'm showing my love of a different sort
To the Current of Galloway and the Republic of Port.
