SOMERS POINT – School officials have called two meetings this week to discuss restructuring the school district by grade levels rather than geographic location.

According to a letter sent home to parents, meetings will be held 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6 at Jordan Road School and 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8 at Dawes Avenue School to present findings based on the recommendations of the New Jersey Department of Education.

A committee comprised of teachers and administrators had a preliminary meeting to brainstorm ideas, according to the letter.

“At this meeting, the committee found that the possibility of Dawes Avenue becoming the kindergarten through third-grade school and Jordan Road becoming the fourth- through eighth-grade school had positive outcomes that would improve student achievement,” the letter stated.
