LINWOOD – Police are investigating the death of a 32-year-old Linwood woman whose body was discovered at the bottom of a swimming pool at her Shore Road home Sunday evening, July 1.

Police from Linwood and Northfield responded after Erika Pelandis, 32, of 2149 Shore Road was found dead at around 7 p.m.

Linwood and Northfield Police Chief Robert James said officers responded to the call; the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office was also called as a precautionary measure because the death was unattended.

“Officially, we are awaiting the results from the autopsy because no one was home at the time of the death,” said James.

According to acting Atlantic County Prosecutor James McClain, Pelandis body was discovered at the bottom of her swimming pool after family members contacted the police when they were unable to get a hold of her.

The autopsy done Monday afternoon revealed that the cause of death is asphyxia due to drowning. The manner of death is pending, according to McClain.

Erika Pelandis shared the Shore Road home with her husband their two young children.
