SOMERS POINT – Police here are looking for an 18-year-old and an unidentified accomplice who were allegedly involved in a shooting and robbery Saturday night at a West New York Avenue home.
Police Capt. Michael Sweeney said an arrest warrant for robbery, aggravated assault and weapons offenses was issued for Dupree Webb Martin, 18, in connection with the shooting of a 26-year-old Somers Point man.
Police said the resident was shot in the abdomen after an altercation with Martin and another male who were admitted into his home. Two other residents, a 27-year-old man and a 21-year-old man, were beaten during the incident, police said.
Somers Point Police received a 911 call about a disturbance at the address shortly after 8 p.m. Feb. 2. When they arrived they found the shooting victim in the yard, according to reports, and two others suffering head and facial injuries.
According to reports, two men who had been admitted into the home confronted the residents. A handgun was displayed, and the visitors attempted to rob the residents, police said. An altercation and robbery ensued, and the perpetrators escaped on foot with undisclosed property.
An investigation led to an arrest warrant being issued for Martin, who was described as about 6 feet tall and weighing about 165 pounds. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.
The investigation is continuing.
