NORTHFIELD—Shore Medical Center celebrated the opening of their newest satellite service with a ribbon cutting of the Urgent Care Center Thursday, Jan. 31. Housed In the site of the former House and Garden Department Store at 2605 Shore Road, where locals counted on finding a new outfit and great customer service. The Shore Physicians Group who also occupies the site shared with the Shore Dialysis together create a patient-centered care hub where locals can turn for multiple medical services.
Urgent Care Medical Director, Dr. John Kulin said the shore Urgent Care Center plays an important role in the healthcare continuum.
He explained that the Urgent Care Center is for patients who need to see a doctor but possibly can not get in to see their primary physician and who do not need the service of an emergency room. “Our idea here is that the Urgent Care Center is an extension of the patient’s physicians’ office. We are also able to connect patients to a primary care physician and communicate with them and along the way we will be able to lower the cost of quality health care,” said Kulin.
Patients do not need an appointment at the Urgent Care Center to be seen.
The Urgent Care Center has four exam rooms along with one procedure room. Patients; pediatric or adults can head to the Urgent Care Center whether they are feeling sick, have an injury, need an X-Ray, EKG, a routine physical, flu shot or other immunization.
“We are pleased to add Urgent Care to the Shore Medical Center and Shore Physicians Group family of health care services,” said Shore President and CEO, Ron Johnson. “Our new Urgent Care facility is committed to providing the community with efficient, effective, patient-centered episodic care. The patients that come through these doors expect to be seen by quality physicians and healthcare professionals quickly and that is what we intend to deliver.”
Though the ribbon cutting was last week, the center has been seeing patients since Jan. 2. Currently the Shore Urgent Care Center hours are 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Kulin advised that those hours will be most likely be expanded in the future.
