Northfield Invitational Tournament basketball championship Feb. 22

NORTHFIELD—If you enjoy good basketball then the Northfield Community School is the place to be today.
It is the last day of the Northfield Invitational Tournament and the teams are playing for bragging rights and the championship today.
Four games are on the floor today starting with the girls from St. Joseph Regional School in Somers Point going taking on Brigantine Middle School for third place in the tournament. Tip of there is at 3:45 p.m.
Next up are the boys at 5 p.m. with Northfield battling out with their Mainland neighbor Somers Point for the third place spot in the tourney.
With a scheduled tip off time of 6:15 the Lady Falcons of the Belhaven Middle School in Linwood will be working their run and gun offense against the ladies of the Emma C. Attales Middle School in Absecon for the girls title.
The final game on the docket Friday has the Titans from the Eugene A. Tighe Middle School in Margate pitted against the Belhaven Falcons from Linwood. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. with the winner taking home the 2013 NIT tournament trophy.
The NIT historically ends the middle school basketball season for the Atlantic County schools. The tournament is put on by the Northfield Sports Boosters and the first round of play began on Feb. 14.
