2014 Miss America contestants make their debut today

ATLANTIC CITY – Here she is!

Tuesday is the start of the tidal wave of Miss America events leading up to the Sunday, Sept. 15 crowning of Miss America 2014.

The 53 Miss America contestants arrive today, Tuesday, Sept. 3. The public is invited to come out to the Boardwalk at Kennedy Plaza at 4 p.m. and meet them and give the ladies from around the country a hearty welcome.

Miss America 2013, Mallory Hagan, will be there and taking center stage to unveil Atlantic City’s newest tribute to the tradition of Miss America.

Joining the 53 contestants will be Sam Haskell, III, chairman and CEO of Miss America Organization; Sharon Pearce, president of the Miss America Organization; Kim Guadagno, New Jersey's lieutenant governor; Atlantic City Mayor Lorenzo Langford; John Palmieri, executive director of the CRDA, and Liza Cartmell, president of the Atlantic City Alliance.

Sweetening the experience will be the Food Network's Cupcake Wars pastry chefs who will be distributing more than 1,000 cupcakes to event guests and members of the public.
