NORTHFIELD--Atlantic County officials continue to meet with representatives of Arawak Paving to ensure that the final paving of Tilton Road between Burton Avenue in Northfield and Fire Road in Egg Harbor Township will meet the county’s satisfaction.

“This project is not yet completed. We remain confident that Arawak will meet its contractual obligation,” stated County Executive Dennis Levinson. “Motorists and business owners who have voiced concerns about the condition of the roadway should rest assured that the contractor is still at work on punch list items to correct problems such as uneven manhole covers and water ponding.”

According to Levinson, county representatives are in regular communication with the paving inspector as well as the contractor to ensure that the contract will be completed satisfactorily.

“We are as anxious as the public to complete this work, but we will not accept work that does not meet federal highway and state transportation standards, especially when it concerns a matter of public safety,” he added.

This portion of Tilton Road marks the final phase of county improvements to the roadway’s entire length from Shore Road in Northfield to Route 30 in Galloway.
