LINWOOD – Our Lady of Sorrows Church celebrated Mass in honor of St. Patrick's Day a little early but in grand style Wednesday evening, March 12.

Sponsored by the Irish American Cultural Society of South Jersey, it was an evening of bagpipes, Irish song, music, pomp and faith.

Bishop Dennis Sullivan, head of the Camden Diocese, concelebrated the Mass with church pastor Rev. Paul Hart, Monsignor William Hodge of St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church in Atlantic City, Rev. Patrick Brady of St. Gianna Beretta Molla in Northfield, and with several other priests from across the diocese.

Bagpiper John Mistler of Egg Harbor Township, Friendly Sons of St. Patrick co-man of the year, led members of the Knights of Columbus from Our Lady of Sorrows and St. Katharine Drexel Church as they ushered in the celebrants.

After Mass, a reception was held in the parish hall with Irish music and dancers all celebrating their Irish roots. Sullivan, who was installed as the eighth bishop of the Camden Diocese Feb. 14, sang an Irish ballad.
