RNS founders will be ‘In the Pink!’ at honorary luncheon

LINWOOD – The Ruth Newman Shapiro Cancer & Heart Fund (RNS) celebrates five decades of community service and will honor five of its original 13 founders at the “In the Pink!” 50th anniversary luncheon 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 11 at the Linwood Country Club, 500 Shore Road in Linwood. The event will honor Annette “Lucky” Rockower, Esther Gushner, Doritt Linsk, Carolyn Major and Bea Klein Newborn.

As part of the day’s festivities, there will be a presentation of Fantasy Tablescapes, designed by past RNS Show House at the Shore interior designers. Designers include Candice Adler of Linwood; Joe Berkowitz of Penn Valley, Pa.; Marcy Dash Friedman of Cherry Hill; Scott Eccard of Northfield; David Bruce Michener of Valley Forge, Pa.; Katy Mackenzie of Blue Bell, Pa.; Vicki Waxman Linwood; Pedro Rodriguez of Bala Cynwyd, Pa.; Michelle Joy of Somers Point; Patti Reed-Rosenberg of Margate; Gary Roeberg of Cherry Hill; Christina Smith of Stone Harbor; John Baliski of West Berlin, and Jackie Noten of Egg Harbor Township.

Luncheon guests will also receive a complimentary ticket to tour the 1998 RNS Show House at the Shore, “The White House,” located at 5603 Atlantic Ave. in Ventnor, from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18.

The winner of RNS’s Lilly’s Summer Cottage doll house raffle will be announced at the conclusion of the luncheon. The prize is a custom-made doll house, designed and constructed by Bill March, owner of Cape May Miniatures. Proceeds from the “In the Pink!” 50th anniversary celebration luncheon and Fantasy Tablescapes exhibition will benefit the RNS Regional Cancer Center and the Heart Institute at the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center; the RNS Linear Accelerator Suite and Cardiac Care Unit at Shore Memorial Hospital; Oncology Patient Services at Cape Regional Medical Center; and the Patient Van Service for the RNS Cardiac Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program at the Bacharach Institute for Rehabilitation.
