Memorial Day The parades in Northfield, Linwood and Somers Point are staggered so those who wish may attend all three of the local celebrations.

Northfield Memorial Days plans

The Northfield Parade line up starts at 9 am at Haddon Avenue and Broad Street. Parade route runs from the starting location down Shore Road to City Hall (1600 Shore Road), where the Memorial Day Ceremony will begin at 10 am. Refreshments to follow at City Hall. No rain date for parade; in the event of inclement weather, the Memorial Day Ceremony will proceed as planned, inside the City Hall Fire Station.

Linwood Memorial Day plans

Linwood Memorial Mile

The red, white and blue themed race will precede the Linwood Memorial Day Parade and is for all kids age 5 and up and their families. Patriotic dressing is encouraged. Proceeds benefit the Linwood Board of Recreation grant program.

The race begins at 9 a.m. on the Wabash Avenue side of All Wars Memorial Park and will finish on the Shore Road side of the park near Glenside Avenue. For the safety of the runners; please no dogs on the course.

Awards to the top 3 male and female winners and all registered participants will receive a finisher’s award. Register online at

Registration will close May 23. Day of race registration and bib pick up is 7:30-8:45 a.m. at start location.

Award presentation follows the Memorial Day Parade.

Linwood Memorial Day Parade

The Memorial Day Parade will step off at Shore Road and the Masonic Temple at 10 a.m. The parade will go to All Wars Memorial Park where there will be a ceremony, the Linwood Citizen of the Year will be announced and there is scheduled to include music provided by the Mainland Regional High School Band.

Somers Point Memorial Day plans

The Somers Point Memorial Day Parade will begin at 11 a.m. at the Dawes Avenue School. (Participants must be at the staging area at 10 a.m.) They will proceed down Shore Road, ending at Patriots Park on Bethel Road at First Street.

The parade will include veterans, military vehicles, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, bands, antique cars and much more. For additional information about participating contact Bob Frolow at 609-487-6932.

A short ceremony honoring fallen veterans of all wars will follow the parade at Patriot’s Park.
